May Violet Perkins, formerly of Shrewsbury, died peacefully on Sunday morning, December 18, 2016 at The Coleman House in Northborough, MA where she was a much loved resident by all the staff and other residents. She was 92.
Born on November 2, 1924 in Elham, Lymige, England she was the daughter of the late Percy J. and Emily J. Bullen. Raised and educated in England, she worked at the Hyde Park Free Library and later as a medical office administrator. During World War II she met Kenneth Raymond Perkins on a blind date and they later married on August 13, 1945 in Kingston upon Thames, England. After the war, they settled in Ken's native New York State. After his retirement in 1985, they moved to Shrewsbury, MA to be closer to family. After 66 years of marriage, Ken passed away on June 15, 2011.
Along with her interests in gardening and bridge, May cherished and devoted much of her time and energy to her grandchildren. Nana's absence will be felt everyday.
In addition to her husband, Ken, she is predeceased by her son-in-law, Donald A. Mooradian.
She leaves her daughters, Leslie Anne Roney and her husband Lincoln of Chester, NY, and Lynne Susan Mooradian of Byfield, MA; her grandchildren Peter Mooradian of Dover, MA, David Mooradian of Severna Park, MD, Amy Gothorpe of Harvard, MA, John Mooradian of Boston, MA, Paul Mooradian of Melrose, MA, Mark Mooradian of Portsmouth, NH, Elizabeth Dogga of Hamden, CT, Christopher Roney, of Manhattan, NY, Geoffrey Roney of Goshen, NY, and Pamela Arnold of Rocky River, Ohio. She also leaves 6 great grandchildren.
Family and friends will honor and remember May's life by gathering for a calling hour at Heald & Chiampa Funeral Directors ~ The Sumner House, 5 Church Road, On the Common, Shrewsbury Center, on Saturday, January 14th 12 Noon to 1 pm. followed by her funeral service at 1 pm. Burial in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, Poughkeepsie, New York is private.
