Gabor I . Sebo, of Shrewsbury, passed away after a long illness. He was 83.
"Gabe," as he was known to many, emigrated from Budapest, Hungary in 1956 and created a life for himself first in Canada and later in Wellesley, where he raised his family. He enjoyed his career as an electrical engineer for New England Electric.
Together with his late wife, Judy, they raised three children; Andrew T. Sebo (wife Shirley) of Vermont, Peter G. Sebo (wife Kathleen) of Hyde Park, and Arlene S. McAuliffe (husband Liam) of Quincy.
He was the most loving grandfather of Mark, Jenna, and Timothy McAuliffe, Jason and Evan Sebo, and Trevor and Daniel Sebo. He was the loving and dedicated companion and "best friend" to Helene Tanenholtz of Shrewsbury. Together they enjoyed travel, music and the arts but mostly relished in their time together.
He mostly lived out a passion of life in the outdoors – hiking all over the country and in Massachusetts, swimming, gardening, rowing, working out at the gym, but he also enjoyed classical music and the opera. His retirement years allowed him to do all the things he cherished but most of all, he loved being a grandfather, a mentor, an educator, and a constant inspiration to reach for one's greatest potential. He shared this with each of his children and most enthusiastically with his grandchildren. He cherished his time with them and also hearing about them. He also leaves behind his sister Agi, brother-in-law Miklos, Gabor, Judith, and Nora of Budapest, Hungary.
He will be sorely missed by all those who had the pleasure to know him, to spend time with him and to feel his love.
A celebration of his life will be shared privately with his family.
